Kantha Small Blanket- Black n Blue
Soft and unique, this beautiful reversible blanket is made in Bangladesh from reclaimed cotton saris. Style it on the back of your favourite chair with its matching cushion to bring a delightful touch of colour to the room. Or curl up with it to read a book; either way you will come to cherish this piece of textile artwork.
It takes 12 hours of careful hand stitching in even and straight rows with 6 layers of vintage saris, adding small patches along the way to create this beautiful piece of work. This ancient craft of kantha stitching has meant many saris have been repurposed over the generations. We think Basha's workmanship is some of the best from its region!
Dimensions: 1m x 1m. Only one (or two) can be made from the sari cloth, so each design is unique.
Colours: Refer to the images to get full spectrum of colour. We have tried to ensure they represent them well. Being recycled cotton, the colour has a light washed out look.
Washing advice: These cotton throws can be machine washed on a gentle, cold cycle. The close stitching help maintain the shape of the cloth. To extend the life of the blanket, we suggest you limit the number of washes. The saris are washed before they are sewn and are washed again before shipping. They arrive soft, clean and beautiful.
This cushion has been kantha stitched by a Bengali woman who has now been restored from a high risk situation. Her signature is in the corner of the blanket. Read more about locally recognised fair trade organisation, Basha.
