Wheat Field Dance Kantha Blanket
Can you picture yourself relaxing with friends under the strong boughs of an oak, the soft fabric of a kantha blanket against your skin? No picnic is the same without one! Striking yellow and faded red flowers dance on a lime green backdrop on one side of this blanket. On quieter days the muted lilac and lime beckon a more reflective mood. Perfect for indoor or out, we are sure this blanket will become a vintage family treasure.
Made from reclaimed cotton saris. It takes 46 hours (5-6 days) of careful hand stitching in even and straight rows with 6 layers of vintage saris to create this beautiful piece of work. This ancient craft of kantha stitching has meant many sari's have been repurposed over the generations. We think Basha's workmanship is some of the best from its region!
The other delightful aspect is that this blanket is unique. Only one can be made from the sari cloth.
Dimensions: 2mt x 2mt. Approximately a double bed size.
Colour and Pattern: We have tried to capture all the colour and pattern in this blanket in the images. There are four images of the blanket folded the hanging rack showing the pattern that extend across its full width.
Washing advice: These cotton throws can be machine washed on a gentle, cold cycle. The close stitching help maintain the shape of the cloth. To extend the life of the blanket, we suggest you limit the number of washes.
The sari's are washed before they are sewn and are washed again before shipping. They arrive soft, clean and beautiful.
This blanket has been kantha stitched by a Bengali woman who has now been restored from a high risk situation. After twelve months of support and training she now has a safe work place which also provides supportive care for her family.
