Climate change and world peace, are they connected?

It is amazing how blue skies and warm weather influences your mood. Our climate not only does that, but it is also influences world peace. "Really?", you say. Maybe you believe that war was the greatest destroyer of world peace. It's time to check in and find out if that is the case.

Those that consistency work with vulnerable communities and provide relief post natural disasters, like the Red Cross Climate Centre, the United Nations and others like TEAR Australia are sending a clear message that it is climate change that is causing the most disruption to peace in a community. It has become clear to them that climate change impacts are having devastating effects on the stability and security of communities globally.

The United Nations recently released this statement that highlighted several areas.

Natural disasters displace three times as many people as conflicts, forcing millions to leave their homes and seek safety elsewhere.

The salinisation of water and crops is endangering food security.

Climate change is having an impact on public health that is escalating.

The growing tensions over resources and mass movements of people are affecting every country on every continent.

For Dignity giveaway and International Day of Peace

So we can be part of reducing climate change and building more peaceful communities. We can do it by taking more responsibility for the environment, in our day to day lives, our purchasing choices and in our communication with policy maker and big businesses.

We want more people to understand this, to be empowered to be building peace and so we are marking the occasion of International Day of Peace.
